What’s in a blog?
Sunday, March 2nd, 2008¬†MAKE NEW FRIENDS BUT KEEP THE OLD…¬† ONE IS SILVER AND THE OTHERS GOLD
I have always prided myself¬†with the fact that I like to treat others as I wish to be treated… but I am finding that is not always the case from the opposite end of the spectrum
When I first started blogging it was to have fun… to visit other blogs and to showcase my works… now sometimes…. life gets in the way and things dont always go as planned.. and while there are beautiful sides to blogging … I am finding much sadness too….
First off no one should ever feel obligated to post… no one should ever be made to feel bad about what they write……. and …..no one should ever want someone to take sides in a friendship…
Obviously you can not always answer every single post nor is it expected..however there is a set of etiquette rules that comes with blogging which includes some type of acknowledgement when one does leave a comment..
I have forged some wonderful friendships with kind loving people that I adore and hope to continue to have a blogging or even personal friendship with.
I am finding that it is not always so good to get personally involved… and perhaps that is my downfall…¬† I LOVE people … I LOVE talking about creativity¬†(which I havent done much of lately) ….and¬†I offer my opinion honestly…¬†(perhaps that too is a downfall)¬†…. I also get involved with those that are having difficulties…¬† perhaps I need to simply post about my work and¬†little creative things.. and not about someone who needs help or needs prayers??¬† Seriously I am at a loss about¬†all of it… I am unsure of which path¬†I should¬†take… and I am dumbfounded by the realities¬†of the blogging world… Not everyone has a picture perfect life.. or a happy family or a huge home filled with lots of goodies…
I have seen others post about being¬†POSITIVE…and that being negative “at all”¬†¬†is a BAD choice….¬†well there are times I feel that is a very grave¬†injustice to some…¬† there¬†are people with issues that don’t¬†allow them to be positive… one of those is depression.. and a person with depression does not always have a way to get OUT of that negativity without some kind of help… those who post to that affect could be seriously setting up someone with this type of problem for more negativity… there are others dealing with alcoholism… or physical or mental abuse…. for someone to say that because you are living that “NEGATIVE” life they are making the wrong choices is a complete sin….not everyone has the support system that others have…
I wonder what type of lesson we are teaching here
There¬†truly needs¬†to be some kind of courtesy to those who have gone out of their way … who have extended a hand of friendship… be it a link..a thank you … a smile… a hello… a comment..an acknowlegement of some kind…¬† Understand I am NOT in any way saying that you should have to comment every single time someone posts… its impossible …¬†
Blogging is not a popularity contest… though you could say some have made it seem that way… its not about how many gifts you get ….¬† its supposed to be about friendships and laughter and tears too…
So please … consider before you post a comment on¬†someones blog and bring them into your circle of blogging friends that there is more to it than just seeing how many people you can “LINK” to your blog … or how much traffic ….. you can bring to your blog….. think about a persons feelings … then make your decison… Case in point… if you can find the time to post every single¬†day on one persons blog… you can find the time to post at least once a week or even just once a month on the blog of one who visits you…this is NOT obligation … this is common courtesy… no excuses
I would love to hear from others…. about this subject..my intention here is not to offend¬†and the real purpose here is to get people thinking…. some can identify … some can not…¬† but there are areas of blogging that are similar to the realities of children in school who arent as popular with the masses…¬†an example would be like this…..¬†before the giving of Valentines Day cards was slated for every single child in¬†the class.. it used to be for whoever¬†wanted to give you one… in which case children who were not popular were not given one…¬†¬†I see similarties in blogland¬†to that effect…¬†¬† where does one draw the line? I think this is a very real subject… that strikes a cord in different ways with everyone
There is an old saying/song that I learned as a child … I think this is the perfect time to post it…
“Make new friends but keep the old… One is silver and the others’ gold….”
