I SEEM TO REMEMBER A TIME LONG AGO … THAT IT SNOWED ON APRIL 8… THAT WAS MY WEDDING DAY .. WAS ALSO AN OMEN …  STORY FOR ANOTHER DAY

LETS  JUST HOPE THAT ISNT THE CASE THIS TIME AND THOSE BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS WILL BE POPPING THEIR HEADS OUT TOWARDS THE SUN AND OUR LOVELY WEATHER WILL GIVE US SOME SENSE OF PEACE AND RELIEF FROM THE COLD …  I AM ITCHING TO GET MY GARDEN READY … AND GET SOME FRESH VEGETABLES TO EAT … THINKING FRIED GREEN TOMATOES …OKRA … CORN … AND SOME GOOD HEALTHY VEGGIES AND FRESH HERBS ..HEIRLOOM TOMATOES …FRESH LETTUCE …. EGGPLANT … ZUCCHINI FLOWERS AND ZUCCHINI … SAGE… THYME … ALL THAT GOOD MOUTH WATERING YUMMINESS … 

SO KEEP THE FINGERS CROSSED …  EASTER IS THE TIME FOR NEW BEGINNINGS …

Hi my friends … Welcome Home …

Power went out this morning at 8 am … came back on around 3 pm … it was so quiet and I sat and thought of things to do … so I dug out my embroidery … found my textile and sewing books … my book on making ribbon flowers and read through quite a bit of that … found some sewing projects to finish … dug up some of my beads for said sewing projects …. cut up material to make a rag pillow (after digging up my supplies to do that ie most of my things are still in boxes) … read a magazine … got my art supplies together to do some acrylic painting (figured I could melt some snow to clean off my brushes if need be) …. found my coleman stove and heated up a pot of lentil … leek and kale soup …. read some more … found candles for light … set up my radio … then I sat there looking out the window watching the snow and wondered how the pioneer women survived back in the day … when they were snowed in for months … with a wood burning stove and a fireplace … very little light and an outhouse ….and all I could think of was how much I admired them to survive through all that … what did they do daily without televisions and computers and cooking appliances that you cant use when the power goes out ?… how creative they must have been to while away the hours … when you think about it … they cooked on wood burning stoves … and they sewed with what they had … strips and patches of material from old worn out clothes… embroidery and darning …they read by candle light … they had fireplaces ….and good insulation ….. and big heavy quilts and fur wraps and fur boots to keep them warm … and than I thought … we have all this modern technology and supposedly all these things to make our lives easier … UNTIL the power goes out !!! hehehe so much for all that “smart”  stuff … !!

Had a lovely small  Thanksgiving dinner with family of the immediate and extended kind …and I am ready for the decorating to begin … wishing you all the fun and joy that the Holidays bring
