girlblogger.png

Now I consider myself one lucky person… I have had the pleasure of receiving an award from two sweet ladies from across the miles… in Australia yet… it amazes me… the wonders of the internet…. that you can strike up such lovely friendships and forge bonds with someone you have never seen… but the feelings of comraderie are so real… I have met many fabulous and creative people this way….

So let me tell you about Jenn and Jacqui…a mother and daughter team who are truly”best” friends…. they are creative…talented …. and oh so friendly…. they give of themselves unconditionally and I hate to say it but this word¬†…”sugar” …sweet describes them to a T …¬†and I mean that in a good way…..¬†¬† visit these¬†ladies at…¬† http://www.thebowerbirdsnest.blogspot.com ¬†…. you will be so glad you did!

I shall pass this on to some equally rockin blogger babes¬†….however that will come on a later post…. see below for explanation… for now…. this award goes to all who comment on my page because YOU ROCK!!

Now I don’t know if anyone remembers¬†several weeks ago when¬†I¬†said I was feeling under the weather?… I may have mentioned a sore throat at one time too…. well¬†I just couldn’t get myself up to snuff¬†… started to feel better and then lousy again¬†and¬†today (Sunday) the sore throat came back …. I had tried to ride it out and let my body fight whatever it was I had…. bad move on my part….I dragged myself to the DR today and yep …I am sick….I tested positive for strep throat….¬† so I will be out of comission as far as projects and getting things on my site for about a week….I am not sure that the Christmas items that¬†I had planned and started but did not finish will get done now in time for the Holiday…. Funny how¬†your creative side just doesnt feel like creating when you are down and out….¬†You know when your body tells you it doesnt feel good it means it… LOL…¬† So bear with me and we shall see what happens… I will do my best…. as for posting I will do my best with that too…. sometimes its nice to lose yourself in it and sometimes you try and it doesn’t come to you like it should and you make all kinds of mistakes …. like all the mispellings on other blogger comments pages… jeepers…. I am such a mess!.. That said…. some good news…

UPDATE on my daughters friend with cancer:

This Is Only A Test

Friday, November 23rd, 2007

ok this is so much fun….study the picture below….¬†decide which way she is turning ….¬† read the article… then let us know in the comment section which side of your brain is superior…don’t cheat by reading¬†it first… its more interesting¬†to decide and see what you come up with…

The Trippiest Optical Illusions on the ‘Net

Instant Test: Are You Creative or Logical?

This silhouette wins the award for coolest thing we’ve seen all day . This is a little test that will tell you whether the left or right hemisphere of your brain is more dominant.

Concentrate on the woman’s movement. If you see her spinning clockwise, that means you’re using the right side, or more creative side of your brain. If she appears to be moving counter-clockwise, then that means the left side, or more logical side of your think muscle is superior.

At the Switched office, some of us see her going clockwise, others see her spinning counter-clockwise. At least one of us claims to see both, while another one of us opened this animation in Adobe ImageReady in order to isolate the frames to see if there’s any direction-changing funny business going on. There isn’t.

Take the test for yourself. Then, if you have time for a 50-question survey, compare these instant results to a more thorough diagnosis.

But wait! We have more optical illusions for you!

What a lovely¬†weekend this has been… first of all…I got some much needed¬†helping hands for¬†lugging boxes to the attic and getting things organized…I have a ways to go but I am so lucky this happened as I was beginning¬† feel surrounded by the chaotic state of things…so I am thankful that I finally¬†received some help.¬†¬†

Then¬†Sunday I received an award…from a very¬†lovely lady….sweet Julie…¬†from Nunnies Attic..¬†www.nunniesattic.blogspot.com …she also has a shop so you must stop by and see all¬†the wonderful items that she sells

friendlysiteaward1.jpg

Now let me tell you about Julie… I just recently met her online and I must say she is the most genuine… for “real” person I have ever met in my life….she said I touched her heart…well if she only knew the profound affect she has had on me…….¬†Julie has made me see so many things in a different perspective through the¬†postings on her blog….. what struck me about¬†her is that every day she is so¬†grateful and thankful for¬†all the¬†ordinary little¬†things in her life…such as laundry because it means¬†she and her family have clothes on their backs… or that she has housework to do because it means she has a roof over her head…so simple… so sincere….I would never have looked at things¬†that way before… shame on me

I try to read her blog every single day because her words¬†inspire me so…¬†its like my fix of coffee every morning… have to have it… have to read her blog…..I immediately¬†grab my cup…park myself in front of the computer¬†and read her wonderful stories…..I love how the internet has enabled us all to reach out to¬†each other¬†for friendship and support…

So I¬†must give this award to some people who have touched my life too…I would love to give it to each and every wonderful friend that I have met through this fabulous new world..however… I must choose a few …¬†so in no particular order¬†I am going to present this award:

1) Back to Julie….¬† www.nunniesattic.blogspot.com …. this goes without saying¬†

2) Kari and Kijsa…¬† www.KariandKijsa.blogspot.com… two very talented and equally lovely ¬†ladies who are just loads of fun

3) Jenn¬†and Jacqui…¬†¬†www.thebowerbirdsnest.blogspot.com ¬† …. a mother and daughter team from across the miles in beautiful Australia…they are so so sweet

3) Cat … Lovely Cat¬† …¬†¬†www.shabbychiccatsgardencloseups.blogspot.com ¬†¬†….I feel as if I have known her forever… she¬†leaves me breathless¬†with the lovely photos she takes… you can’t help but see what God has so blessed us with through her eyes¬†along with her¬†talent for the right shot ….an art in itself… who would have thought there was such beauty in the bark of a tree or bear tracks

That¬† being said…on to¬†my wonderful evening of sipping coffee laced with chocolate hazelnut liquor and firing up the outdoor pit in the chilly November air and simply relaxing… something¬†I am finding harder to do these days…it was lovely

firepit012re.jpg

firepit011re.jpg

And last… my darling daughter sent me these pictures of my “grandbabies”¬†….. I hope you get as much pleasure and laughter out of them as I did…..

pokiebear.jpg¬†¬†¬†¬† Meet Bandit… I call him Pokie Bear because he feels the only way to get your attention is to poke you with his nose until you notice him…he talks too

nannie.jpg¬† and Nannie….she thinks she is a dog….seriously… she really does

I hope your weekend was as nice as mine…

Musical Code Found in Da Vinci Painting

By ARIEL DAVID, AP Posted: 2007-11-09 18:47:48 Filed Under: Science News, World News ROME (Nov. 9) – It’s a new Da Vinci code, but this time it could be for real.

An Italian musician and computer technician claims to have uncovered musical notes encoded in Leonardo Da Vinci’s “Last Supper,” raising the possibility that the Renaissance genius might have left behind a somber composition to accompany the scene depicted in the 15th-century wall painting.

Giovanni Maria Pala said by putting symbolic elements in Leonardo Da Vinci’s ‘The Last Supper’ on a musical staff, he found a 40-second “hymn to God.”

¬† “It sounds like a requiem,” Giovanni Maria Pala said. “It’s like a soundtrack that emphasizes the passion of Jesus.”

Painted from 1494 to 1498 in Milan’s Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, the “Last Supper” vividly depicts a key moment in the Gospel narrative: Jesus’ last meal with the 12 Apostles before his arrest and crucifixion, and the shock of Christ’s followers as they learn that one of them is about to betray him.

Pala, a 45-year-old musician who lives near the southern Italian city of Lecce, began studying Leonardo’s painting in 2003, after hearing on a news program that researchers believed the artist and inventor had hidden a musical composition in the work.

“Afterward, I didn’t hear anything more about it,” he said in an interview with The Associated Press. “As a musician, I wanted to dig deeper.”

In a book released Friday in Italy, Pala explains how he took elements of the painting that have symbolic value in Christian theology and interpreted them as musical clues.

Pala first saw that by drawing the five lines of a musical staff across the painting, the loaves of bread on the table as well as the hands of Jesus and the Apostles could each represent a musical note.

This fit the relation in Christian symbolism between the bread, representing the body of Christ, and the hands, which are used to bless the food, he said. But the notes made no sense musically until Pala realized that the score had to be read from right to left, following Leonardo’s particular writing style.

In his book – “La Musica Celata” (“The Hidden Music”) – Pala also describes how he found what he says are other clues in the painting that reveal the slow rhythm of the composition and the duration of each note.

The result is a 40-second “hymn to God” that Pala said sounds best on a pipe organ, the instrument most commonly used in Leonardo’s time for spiritual music.

Alessandro Vezzosi, a Leonardo expert and the director of a museum dedicated to the artist in his hometown of Vinci, said he had not seen Pala’s research but that the musician’s hypothesis “is plausible.”

Vezzosi said previous research has indicated the hands of the Apostles in the painting can be substituted with the notes of a Gregorian chant, though so far no one had tried to work in the bread loaves.

“There’s always a risk of seeing something that is not there, but it’s certain that the spaces (in the painting) are divided harmonically,” he told the AP. “Where you have harmonic proportions, you can find music.”

Vezzosi also noted that though Leonardo was more noted for his paintings, sculptures and visionary inventions, he was also a musician. Da Vinci played the lyre and designed various instruments. His writings include some musical riddles, which must be read from right to left.

Reinterpretations of the “Last Supper” have popped up ever since “The Da Vinci Code” fascinated readers and movie-goers with suggestions that one of the apostles sitting on Jesus’ right is Mary Magdalene, that the two had a child and that their bloodline continues.

Pala stressed that his discovery does not reveal any supposed dark secrets of the Catholic Church or of Leonardo, but instead shows the artist in a light far removed from the conspiratorial descriptions found in fiction.

“A new figure emerges – he wasn’t a heretic like some believe,” Pala said. “What emerges is a man who believes, a man who really believes in God.”
