¬†NOW ON TO NICER THINGS….

Ahh spring is in the air…. so let me start with a few pics of just a couple flowers…

This first is of the heather that is just about ready to quit blooming … the flowers will fall off soon but for now the scent is quite heavenly

Next is Candy Tuft… I love the way it looks like little snowballs and is full and lush

Right now they are not planted but sitting in these containers which I want to do something creative with…. (paint?¬†¬†patina? ideas are welcome)…¬† I really like clay pots better but they will do for now….. This is all in the planning stages…. my goal is to achieve an Italian¬†like garden … but one that will last through winter for privacy… ¬† I have a lot more to add to it… and as I stated nothing has been¬†set in soil¬†as yet so I can arrange and rearrange if I wish… though I like¬†the placement¬†so far¬†in my effort¬†to make my outdoor living¬†space a comfortable place to relax …..lots more to come at a later date

Now on to my date with Andrew…. as the sun set in brilliant hues on what was an absolutely lovely day … cool breezes softly stirring in the trees….

And the moon cast a fascinating glow from above ….

 

I sat and listened as Andrew Loyd Weber spoke to me from my stereo … along with Il Divo…. and a few other good friends….¬† and did nothing but soothe my weary soul …. what could be more heavenly than that??

Ok my friends best cop a squat on a nice comfy cushion and grab a huge cup of coffee… tea … or diet coke because this is going to be a long one…

A while ago I had written about Cedar Key … a sweet little fishing village¬†off the gulf side of the¬†Florida keys… now I wish to show you some of the lovely and local art… its amazing…

First off… Cedar Keyhole Artist Gallery is a co-op that was founded in 1978 by local artists … home to a broad range of handmade items and located at the 2nd Street Historic District… to this day some charter members still remain as participating artists…Love the little sign that sits out front … too cute

Outside this building is a beautiful courtyard… surrounded by a mosaic wall and a huge fisherman who is trying to snag himself a big one…

The wall was just dedicated on Saturday the fifth of April…. what is so¬†neat about it is that anyone who wanted was given the opportunity to contribute to the wall and add their own little fish… its made to look like the bottom of the sea… the pictures do not do it justice but hopefully will give you a general idea…¬†

Now the guy below just fascinates me…he is made entirely of mosaics and was done by a local artist … while I tried to find out the name of the person responsible for this amazing feat … as of the writing of this post I have been unable to do so… I believe I was told it was a female… but whoever the work is exquisite… I tried to provide some close ups of his outfit to show you the quality of this divine piece…

Now this is the fish he is trying to catch… unfortunately I was unable to capture the picture in one whole shot which is absolutely stunning!!¬† The water I believe is made of glass… possibly sea glass…they sit behind the mosaic wall….¬†the talent and¬†idea of it all¬†is astounding¬†

Next we have a few more walls inside the courtyard … the fish themselves are mosaics

Below is some mosaic artwork found on the second floor of the keyhole gallery…. artist again unknown.. but local… the co-op only allows artists who live in Cedar Key and the surrounding¬†areas to contribute …¬†her work was featured¬†at the time I was there…

Below is the first floor of the gallery…. as you can see there is everything from paintings to pottery and more… the next shots feature only some of the pottery…

The walls are filled with some fabulous artwork… I wish I could have gotten better pics but did the best I could with the time frame I had….

One of my favorites… These Fish paintings… they are quite colorful and unfortunately the glare from the glass doesnt do the photos justice…¬†¬† you can see some above and below…

I saved the best for last….¬† Virginia…. she paints on silk… and her designs are exquisite… an announcement concerning Virginia is on the horizon…¬† but I won’t say any more than that until the timing is right
